Hi,

I help individuals with problems of self-confidence, stress, career difficulties, habit change, communication problems, self-assertion, sleep difficulties, presentation skills, tension and relaxation, health issues, and general emotional turbulence.

The main kinds of problems with which I can help include the following:

(1) Managing stress levels

(2) Developing self-confidence and self-esteem

(3) Overcoming public performance anxiety and stage fright: (Speaking in public, including presentations, examinations, or job interviews).

(4) Using nutrition and exercise to control your anger, anxiety and depression

(5) Sleep problems, which flow from insufficient sleep, or sleep disruption

(6) Developing habit change skills

The most important things that I do for my clients are:

(2) Give them a safe space in which they are able to fully express their current dilemma, receive support and validation, and experiment with role–playing, visualisation or the trying out of problem-solving models.

(3) Share with them the latest research findings which can help them in their current situation.

The main models that I use to make the problems that clients face easier to understand are as follows:

(1) The Skilled Helper model (from Gerard Egan): which helps the client to build a bridge from where they are now to where they want to get to;

(3) The Inner Coach model: Some clients can have a harsh and destructive ‘Inner critic’ which demands perfection of them. Together we pin down this part of the personality by identifying it as it shows up. The client learns to spot when this is happening. Our goal is to develop a moral, responsible, ‘Inner coach’ who is like an inner scientist and/or caring parent, who acts as a protector against the demands of their ‘Inner critic’ which always demands perfection.

(4) The Parent-Adult-Child model: I use TA (Transactional analysis) which is a way of understanding the different ways of being that people have developed as a result of their parental role models and messages that they received about life from their parents or significant others.  Choosing a new approach to solving your current problem, which is different from the one you saw modelled by your parents, may be easier said than done. So we raise your awareness of more constructive paths that you can choose for your way forward.

(5) I also use Gestalt chair-work and some narrative approaches.
